Best and Worst Cars to retain their value in Qatar

 

Buying a car is one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll make as a resident in Qatar, and therefore the right choice can help you save thousands of Riyals.

 

Unlike properties, cars do not appreciate in value, but begin depreciating the moment you drive away of the the car dealer. Some cars my depreciate more than QR50,000 as soon as you take them home.

 

Using data from over 5,000 cars listed on Qmotor website, we analysed the value of the cars when they were new 5 years ago, and the selling price now. Using that information, we then found the average for how much each model had depreciated.

 

We managed to calculate the information only for the top five cars for retaining their value, and for the most five cars to depreciate in the car market in Qatar. 

 

We have excluded from the study all the cars which were only launched in the last 3 years such as the Bentayga and the Colinan.

 

So which cars depreciate the least? and which depreciate the most.

 

Top 5 cars that retain their value in Qatar

 

Japanese car brands retain the most value with the Lexus LX570 topping the list and having 3 cars of top retaining list. Here are the cars;

1. Lexus LX570
2. Toyota Land Cruiser GXR
3. Kia Rio
4. Toyota Camry
5. Toyota Prado

 

Cars that depreciate the most in Qatar

 

Europian cars scored in the worse in how much they depreciate, with Audi A8 topping the list in the most car that depretiate in price in Qatar. It has not accompanied its high specification in maintaining its value. Here is the list;

1. Audi A8
2. Mazaresi Quattroporte
3. BMW 745
4. Audi Q5
5. Volkswagen Touareg
